Black & Aging
in America

Presents summaries, statistics, and perspective on the status of Older African Americans. By examining social, economic, health and other indicators, in comparison to other racial and ethnic groups, this report illustrates progress as well as the many challenges that remain.
This report is dedicated to memory of Hobart Jackson and Samuel J. Simmons.
NCBA was founded in 1970 by the late Hobart C. Jackson, Jr. (1916-1978). His dedication to African American seniors and desire to make a difference laid the cornerstone and began the dialogue for change as it pertained to the programs and services that benefit low-income Older African Americans.
