Join the Diverse Elders Coalition for a webinar on health research and diverse populations
On Thursday, August 22nd at 3pm EDT, the Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC) will host a webinar on health research among diverse populations. We’ll discuss the barriers to access that have prevented communities of color, LGBT communities, American Indian/Alaska Native communities, and others from participating in health research. We’ll also explore the different health conditions and disparities that can be better understood and alleviated through greater participation in biomedical research and the advancement of precision medicine. The webinar will focus on the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program and the protections that the program has put into place to ensure that our communities are counted in this unique health research.
Presenters for this webinar include:
Christina Pacheco, Director of Policy, National Hispanic Council on Aging
Keisha Lewis, Occupational Therapist, National Caucus and Center on Black Aging
Jenna McDavid, National Director, Diverse Elders Coalition
This webinar is free of charge and you can register here: https://bit.ly/2LPBD8x
We look forward to sharing our experiences and research with individuals, organizations, advocates, healthcare providers, and anyone who is interested in learning more about the All of Us Research Program. This webinar will expand on the Diverse Elders Coalition’s previous collaboration with NHCOA to highlight historical research transgressions and the ways that All of Us is working to overcome low rates of participation from the communities our coalition represents in health research.
